In 2024, 5.1 million students undertook nationally recognised VET in Australia, the highest level since the collection began in 2015 (source: NCVER, Total VET Students and Courses 2024, 2025). Yet only 62.4% of qualification completers had an improved employment status after training, down 2.0 percentage points as unemployment rose (source: NCVER, VET Student Outcomes 2025, 2025). Under the 2025 Standards for RTOs, in force since 1 July 2025, providers are assessed on the quality of outcomes for students and employers, not just process (source: ASQA, 2025 Standards for RTOs, 2025). The last mile, connecting graduates to genuine jobs, is now the currency.
VET in Australia is large and publicly backed. 5.1 million students undertook nationally recognised training in 2024, a 1.8% rise on 2023 (source: NCVER, Total VET Students and Courses 2024, 2025), delivered by the more than 3,800 providers ASQA regulates nationally (source: ASQA, ASQA overview, 2026). Funding is expanding: the Fee-Free TAFE Skills Agreement committed $1.5 billion for over 500,000 Free TAFE and VET places from 2023 to 2026, and the Free TAFE Act 2025 makes this permanent with over $1.6 billion to 2034-35 for at least 100,000 places a year from 2027 (source: DEWR, Free TAFE, 2026). Funded places are tied to priority sectors, so evidenced placement sustains the pipeline.

RTOs handling learner personal information are covered by the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, which set expectations for collection, use, retention and disclosure across the learner lifecycle (source: OAIC, Australian Privacy Principles). Separately, all RTOs must report AVETMISS-compliant activity data to the national collections, with Release 8.1 taking effect for activity from 1 January 2027 (source: NCVER, What is AVETMISS, 2026).
Right-to-work and visa checks remain the hiring employer's responsibility, not the job board's, and learner data should only ever be matched to genuine, employer-direct vacancies rather than passed to third-party aggregators. This is context, not legal advice.
This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer story. An RTO running a Fee-Free TAFE cohort in aged care stands up a branded job board in the first week of training. Instead of emailing job links, trainers watch an employer-direct feed match each learner to live, relevant roles, and see application and interview activity per cohort. When funding reporting is due, the provider exports job outcomes by cohort rather than assembling screenshots at the end.
The 2025 Standards for RTOs, in force since 1 July 2025, assess the quality of outcomes for students and employers. A job board your learners actually use gives you application, interview and job-outcome data per learner, which is the foundation of an outcomes evidence pack.
"To get a job" is the top single reason learners complete a qualification at 24.1%, but only 62.4% of completers reach improved employment status, and that figure fell as unemployment rose. Connecting graduates to genuine, active vacancies is the unclosed loop.
Yes. Spacewalk gives your programme a branded board where employer-direct live vacancies are matched to your learners' new skills, with every application tracked.
From an employer-direct stream of verified, active roles with direct apply links, matched to each learner's skills, qualification level and location. Your team can also post roles or invite employers to post, but the vacancies are not scraped from job boards or aggregators.
No. Right-to-work and visa verification stays with the hiring employer. Spacewalk connects learners to live vacancies and tracks their progress.
Funded places are tied to priority sectors, so providers must evidence placement into those fields. Per-cohort outcome data shows where learners landed, which supports the case for continued funded delivery.
Spacewalk supports skills and bootcamp providers worldwide, including skills bootcamp job board software in the United Kingdom, job placement software for US bootcamps and skills training platforms for Canadian providers.
