Searchable filters, selection counts, and links that carry filters.
Job filters let members narrow a board to the roles that actually apply to them, and every filtered view now has its own link. Selection counts, searchable option lists and a selected only view cut the clicks. Careers teams can send a cohort straight to a pre-filtered set rather than to the whole board.
What changed about job filters
Filters stop working at scale for a mundane reason. A board with enough roles to be useful has option lists too long to scan, and a member who has picked six things cannot remember what they picked.
- Filter groups show how many options you have selected, with a one-tap selected only view to see just those.
- Long option lists are searchable, with matches highlighted as you type.
- Start-date filters use plain descriptions rather than dates you have to interpret.
- Selected filters are more obvious, particularly when you arrive from a shared link with filters already applied.
- Filter selections persist in the page URL, so any view can be copied and sent.
- Members can filter by region within their country, not just by country and town.
What it means for your community
Fewer members bounce off the board on their first visit. Someone who lands on a list of several hundred roles and cannot cut it down to their field in two moves tends not to come back, and that is a retention problem rather than a usability nicety.
For an alumni network the value is regional. Alumni are scattered, and the thing that makes a hub worth opening is being able to get to roles that are genuinely reachable rather than a national list where most entries are three hundred miles away. Filtering by region within a country does that in one step, and the locations list narrows to what sits inside that region rather than showing every town in the country.
For a professional association it is about niche. Members do not want the whole sector, they want their corner of it, and searchable option lists mean a member can type a specialism instead of scrolling a taxonomy someone else designed. When the option list is highlighted as they type, they also discover terms they did not know the board used.
What it means for your team
Shareable filtered links are the part most teams get value from fastest. A newsletter no longer has to say visit the board, it can point at exactly the roles relevant to that audience, and the person arriving sees the filters already applied and clearly marked rather than wondering why the list looks short.
That works for campaigns, cohort-specific emails and announcement cards placed on the board itself. A careers team running four cohorts can maintain four links rather than four explanations. It pairs naturally with a curated custom skills catalogue, because the filters are only as good as the vocabulary underneath them, and you can watch whether the filtered links are landing in member analytics.
The links are also durable in a way saved searches are not. Because the state lives in the URL rather than in an account, a filtered view can go into a printed handout, a slide at an induction session or a message forwarded between members, and it still opens correctly for someone who has not signed in yet. Nothing has to be recreated when a cohort turns over, since the link describes a set of criteria rather than a fixed list of roles, and the roles behind it refresh as the board does.
Do members have to do anything to use this?
No. The filters are simply there the next time a member opens the board, with nothing to enable and no settings to learn. Anyone who had already filtered will find their existing habits intact, with the counts and search added on top. For admins there is nothing to configure either, though it is worth grabbing the URL after filtering once, because that is the whole mechanism behind shareable views.
Getting started
Filters appear on your board automatically. To create a shareable view, filter the board as a member would and copy the URL from the address bar. The marketplace admin guide shows the filter rail in context and the knowledge base covers using filtered links in campaigns. Both changes are in the opportunity filters changelog entry.
