Set up a thriving talent marketplace in 3 simple steps

Skills bootcamps, academies and job training programs are an increasingly popular way to help kickstart or fast-track careers. Providing a dedicated talent marketplace can be a great way for the program organiser to help connect graduates to employers who want to access this talent pool.

Spacewalk provides fully functional talent marketplaces for boot camps, academies and job training programs. We enable flexibility for providers to operate their talent marketplace in different ways to help them achieve their goals:

Careers team

The team responsible for placing learners into jobs can:

  • Invite the pool of learners to the talent marketplace, which can be set to private to limit access to just their learners
  • Post opportunities on behalf of employers and then identify who is a good fit to be put forward for interview
  • Invite employers to join the talent marketplace and post opportunities. They will then receive applications directly

Employer network

Employers can tap into their target talent pool of learners by posting opportunities on the talent marketplace. They will be able to view all applications, including with a summary of all applicants and their full profiles, and then contact them direct.

Job seekers

On creating their free profile they will be instantly notified whenever a relevant opportunity is posted. They will be able to view this oportunity (and all opportunities aon the talent marketplace) and apply with a single click (with the option to add a short cover note).

The following guide broadly applies to these scenarios.

Step 1 - Set up the talent marketplace

Register now for free and get instant access to start your talent marketplace with a 30-day trial. Follow the simple steps and within minutes you'll have your own fully-functional talent marketplace, ready to use, including its own branded registration/login page. You can then:

➜ Choose if you want your private marketplace to be public or private (recommended)

➜ Customise with your branding, including your logo, banner and social sharing images, and your own personalised URL (website link)

➜ Add staff from your organisation to be marketplace admins

Step 2 - Post opportunities

We recommend adding live opportunities to kickstart your marketplace before you invite your graduates. There are a few ways to do this:

➜ We can add opportunities for you. Simply contact our team and we’ll get them ready

➜ You can invite your employer network to post opportunities directly onto the marketplace

➜ You can post opportunities on behalf of employers, including with their branding

Note that some program organisers choose this last option to help them identify who from their cohort is the right fit and interested to be put forward to an interview with each employer.

Opportunities can be for any role type (eg jobs, contracts, internships, short-term gigs and more) and any working arrangement (eg remote, office-based, hybrid, part-time, full-time etc).

Step 3 - Invite your graduates and your employer network

There are various ways to do this:

➜ Share the link to your marketplace on any channel you find suitable to communicate with your graduates and employer network, including email distribution, your website, newsletters and any relevant online groups. Our team can supply you with suggested text for your communications.

➜ Invite directly from your marketplace dashboard, which will generate a personalised email invitation to your audience and speed up their onboarding, including automatically joining your talent marketplace. You can also review requests to join your marketplace.

What happens next

Your talent marketplace is active, Here’s what you can expect:

➜ Requests to join if your marketplace is private. We’ll notify you on each request and you can simply accept or decline.

➜ Employers (or yourself as the admin) post opportunities, which will be instantly matched to the relevant graduates

➜ The graduates view opportunities and apply with a single click

➜ Employers review applicants and contact them direct

➜ You can view metrics on the levels of engagement in their marketplace, including which opportunities are most popular and how many applications have been submitted
